Thu, 17 Jun 2010 11:03:00 +0000 - Greetings to all,
It is almost time to get the final full day under way. This is the day everyone gets to sleep in. We don't eat breakfast until 9:10. Of course everyone wants to sleep until 9. We have had an awesome few days here at Look-Up. It has been interesting watching God break some of the campers this week. Some of them our own students. Some began the week with no intention of seeking God much less a deeper relationship with Him. Last night some of those things happened anyway. We had some deeper conversations about our faith and how those around us measure our faith based on our actions. If I call myself a plumber, but you never see me doing any plumbing work, then you really have no reason to believe that I am a plumber other than what I tell you. If I call myself a Christian and you don't see any evidence of change in my life, or fruit of my claim, then you really have no reason to believe that I am a Christian other than that is what I say that I am. I wonder how many of us in church on any given Sunday morning, that call ourselves Christians, are lying to ourselves and God? We may have chosen to pray a prayer or come to the front of the church and be baptized just in case the whole salvation thing is true, but we don't truly believe and trust in Jesus as our savior. How many of us have a true desirous relationship with God? A relationship where we truly want to know Him better? We need to ask and search ourselves and decide if we are deceiving our selves and believing and trusting that lie. If our relationship is based on anything short of our faith, trust, and belief in Christ and who He is, then we need to re-evaluate our relationship. Several of our young people have done just that this week and God has not only broken them, but has opened their eyes and is drawing them closer to Him. WHAT AN AWESOME WEEK!!! Please continue to lift us up in prayer as God has not finished His ministry through Greg and in these campers this week. We look forward to coming home Friday and seeing everyone there.

In Christ,
James

Wed, 16 Jun 2010 10:41:00 +0000 - Good Morning,
It is the beginning of the third full day of camp and I am excited. The youth are beginning to open up and ask some pretty tough questions. However, I continue to ask for prayer for the ones who have no interest whatsoever in being here. Not necessarily the one in our group, but there are several here at camp who are trying just as hard as they can to ignore God. Join me in lifting these young people up the rest of this week.
We had a really good devotion last night. Campfires were cancelled because of the rain so Sardis went into the lobby and just talked about some of the stuff being covered this week. We discussed how important it is to understand God's word. As much as we can at that time in our walk. We recognized how important it is to have a personal Bible study time where we are personally and passionately seeking after God. Our God wants to be pursued. I look forward to getting home and beginning a study in apologetics with our youth for the summer.
By the way, please pray for the patience and tempers today. We have not had water in our cabin since last night and some of us (including me) have not had showers. Hopefully they will have the broken pipe fixed this morning.

In Christ,
James

Tue, 15 Jun 2010 10:43:00 +0000 - Hello Again,
I would like to pose the question; what is the most important thing in the world to you? I ask this because of some of the things that our young people think are the most important. I will not answer that question or even tell you some of the responses we get here with the youth. I just want you to think about it. I think we have lost our perspective somewhere. I ask that everyone continue to pray for all of us here at camp. Pray for guidance for the staffers and us leaders, that God will lead us so we can lead these students. I can't wait to see what He has in store today. We had a great discussion last night and it was brought to our attention that we are, for the most part, still living off of spiritual milk. When in reality, as long as most of us have been hearing this message (the Gospel), we should be teachers by now.
I am not sure that we truly believe the Bible to be accurate. My reason for this is this; if we truly believed it, our actions would mirror it more closely. We allow society to tell us what is real and this may be true about Scripture as well. For instance, do you believe in a literal seven day (24 hour day) creation where God created each and everything (including us) in it, or do you just believe a variation of this. If you do believe it, then why do you believe it? We should be able to defend our beliefs. The Apostle Paul said this in 1 Peter 3:15
"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect," We really do need to know why we believe what we believe. I hope to post more pictures and comments. I look forward to your comments and questions as well.

In Christ,
James
